Federal Aviation Administration’s Airway Trust Fund has been approved by the House

In the realm of airplane noise, two of our representatives in Congress announced recently some progress in the effort to mitigate its impact on our neighborhood.

On June 26, 2019, Congresswoman Kathleen Rice announced that her amendment to support the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airway Trust Fund has been approved by the House. These funds will aid in the research of jet noise upon hearing.

And on the same day, Congresswoman Grace Meng called on the head of the Government Accounting Office (GAO) to study just how the FAA measures aircraft noise.  In many instances, that agency has “promised to look into” the issue.  Congressmember’s Meng’s letter, co-signed by 29 members of Congress, asks the GAO to ensure that noise impacts are part of the agency’s purview.
